Second Session

1. Ludwig van Beethoven
One of the following sonatas for violin and piano:
D-Dur, op. 12 Nr. 1
A-Dur, op. 12 Nr. 2
Es-Dur, op. 12 Nr. 3
a-Moll, op. 23
A-Dur, op. 30 Nr. 1
G-Dur, op. 30 Nr. 3

2. One complete work of your choice for solo violin or for violin and piano.

The length of this session is not to exceed 35 minutes.

Semi-final Round

12. – 14. November, 12 candidates


Morning Session

Each participant will present a recital which is to last no longer than 60 minutes. The repertoire will be chosen by the competitor. It must include a sonata for violin and piano as well as the work composed for the competition by Vladimir Martynov (length: 8-10 minutes). Concertos for violin and orchestra are not permitted. Works played in the preliminary round may not be repeated here.


Evening Session

One of the following concertos für violin and orchestra:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Nr. 1 in B-Dur, KV 207
Nr. 2 in D-Dur, KV 211
Nr. 3 in G-Dur, KV 216
Nr. 4 in D-Dur, KV 218
Nr. 5 in A-Dur, KV 219

The competitors will perform with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal.

Final Round

16. – 17. November, 6 candidates

One of the following concertos for violin and orchestra:

  • Bartók: Violinkonzert Nr. 2
  • Beethoven: D-Dur, op. 61
  • Brahms: D-Dur, op. 77
  • Dvorák: a-Moll, op. 53
  • Prokofjew: D-Dur, op. 19
  • Prokofjew: g-Moll, op. 63
  • Schostakowitsch: a-Moll, op. 99
  • Schumann: d-Moll (1853)
  • Sibelius: d-Moll, op. 47
  • Tschaikowsky: D-Dur, op. 35

The competitors will perform with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of Hannover conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier.

All works — except the sonatas for violin and piano and the work by Vladimir Martynov — must be performed from memory.
