Richard JacobyRichard Jacoby, for many years president of the German Music Council and the Academy of Music and Theater Arts in Hannover, studied music education, musicology, French literature, philosophy and psychology in Mainz. After completing his teaching credentials and his doctorate, Jacoby – who was awarded the Gutenberg Prize – taught at the pre-college and the college level in Mainz. In 1964, he was appointed professor of musicology and music education at the Hannover Music Academy. In addition to being honorary president of the German Music Council he has been a member of the International Music Council, of the International Society of Music Education, the German University Rectors´ Conference and the Boards of the Goethe Institute and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. Richard Jacoby has been the chairman of the Jury of the Hannover International Violin Competition since 1991. | ||||
