Koichiro Harada

Koichiro Harada is an extraordinarily versatile member of the international music community. He studied at the Toho School of Music in Tokyo and then finished his education at The Juilliard School under Paul Makanowitzky, Dorothy DeLay and Ivan Galamian. Koichiro Harada has performed at many festivals including Spoleto, Kuhmo in Finland, Los Angeles and Banff. As head of the String Department at the Toho School of Music in Tokyo, he is dedicated to nurturing budding solo talents. As founding member and first violinist of the Tokyo String Quartet from 1969 to 1981, he performed around the globe, participating in such festivals as South Bank, Tanglewood, Banff and Lucerne. In 1988, he made his conducting debut with the New Philharmonic Orchestra, and has been increasingly active in this field ever since. Koichiro Harada´s recordings have received the »Grand Prix du Disque« at Montreux, the »Stereo« and »Gramophone« Best Record of the Year awards as well as Grammy nominations.
