Erich Gruenberg

 Acclaimed as one of Britain´s most distinguished violinists, Erich Gruenberg was born in Vienna, where he began his musical education. He continued his studies in Jerusalem and eventually settled in London, after winning the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition. As a soloist he has appeared with all the major British orchestras and has toured throughout the world, collaborating with such conductors as Sir Colin Davies, Rhozdestvensky, Skrowaczewski, Previn, Stikowsky and Durati. He has held the posts of concertmaster of the London Symphony and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras and has led the London Ensemble and the London String Quartet. Erich Gruenberg is professor at the Royal Academy of Music and gives master classes around the world. He is regularly invited to serve on international juries and is chairman of the Hattori Foundation for young musicians as well as chairman of the jury and the artistic planning panel of the Yehudi Menuhin Competition for Young Violinists. In recognition of his continuing services to music he has been awarded the Order of the British Empire.
